Sprouts $5M Settlement – Eligibility, Deadline and Details
A $5 million proposed settlement involving Sprouts Farmers Market could provide payments to eligible grocery shoppers who received receipts containing too much of their payment card number. The case centers on alleged violations of the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act, commonly known as FACTA.
However, the deadline to submit a claim was Wednesday, August 5, 2026, so the filing period has now closed.
What Is the Sprouts Lawsuit?
Sprouts Farmers Market Inc. operates about 60 stores in Texas and more than 410 locations across the United States. The grocery chain sells fresh food, organic products and wellness-focused items.

Instagram | classaction_org | Sprouts Farmers Market was sued in California for violating federal card-privacy laws on store receipts.
Two consumers, Larry Train and Robert Cohen, filed separate class-action lawsuits against Sprouts in California. Train filed his complaint in Los Angeles County, while Cohen brought his case in Orange County. The lawsuits made similar allegations and were consolidated in May 2023. Both cases were pending in Los Angeles County Superior Court under the proposed settlement agreement.
The lawsuits accused Sprouts of printing more than the last five digits of customers’ payment card numbers on certain receipts. FACTA generally restricts businesses from displaying too much payment card information on electronically printed receipts.
Why Did Sprouts Agree to the Settlement?
The allegations involved receipts issued during specific periods between 2020 and 2023. According to the settlement notice, some Sprouts locations allegedly printed more than the final five digits of a customer’s credit or debit card number. The allegation also involved certain EBT transactions.
Displaying additional card information could increase the risk of identity theft and other misuse of payment information, according to the notice.
Sprouts disputed the claims but agreed to a proposed $5 million cash settlement. The agreement states that the parties reached the deal “to avoid the uncertainty and cost of further legal proceedings, including the appeals, and to provide benefits to Class members.”
The settlement does not mean Sprouts admitted wrongdoing. Payments depend on court approval and the terms of the settlement.
Who Was Eligible?
The settlement website identified two groups of potential class members.
People who used a personal credit or debit card at any Sprouts location in the United States between August 16, 2020, and October 31, 2022, could qualify. This group did not include EBT transactions.
A second group covered people who used an EBT card between March 15, 2021, and April 15, 2023, and received an electronically printed receipt showing more than the final five digits of the card number.
Eligibility depended on meeting the requirements listed in the settlement documents.
When Was the Claim Deadline?

Freepik | Email notice recipients should file a Short-Form Claim, while all others must submit a Claim Form-R with supporting documents.
The deadline for both claim options was Wednesday, August 5, 2026.
People who received a written settlement notice by email were instructed to submit a Short-Form Claim Form. Those who did not receive a notice were directed to use a Claim Form-R and provide the documents required under the settlement instructions.
Mailed claims had to be postmarked by August 5 and sent to:
Atticus Administration, LLC
P.O. BOX 64053
St. Paul, MN 55164
Claims could also be submitted by fax at 1-888-326-6411. Fax submissions were due by 11:59 p.m. ET on August 5, 2026.
Because that deadline has passed, consumers who did not submit a claim by the required time may no longer qualify for a payment under the proposed settlement.
What Happens Next?
A fairness hearing is scheduled for November 19, 2026, at 11 a.m. in Los Angeles, California, where Judge William F. Highberger is expected to review whether the proposed settlement is fair and reasonable. The hearing date may change, so consumers can contact the settlement administrator at 1-800-958-1026 for the latest updates.
Settlement payments will not be issued until the court grants the required approval. Under the proposed agreement, checks are expected to be sent no later than 60 days after the later of the claim-submission deadline or the settlement date. This means the exact payment timeline will depend on the court’s decision and the final settlement schedule.
The Sprouts case also highlights the importance of receipt information when consumers pay with cards. FACTA limits the amount of payment card information businesses can display on electronically printed receipts.
The August 5, 2026, claim deadline has already passed for eligible consumers seeking compensation. The November 19 hearing is the next major step in determining whether the proposed $5 million settlement will receive final approval.
